According to research done by Liu et al. (2019), approximately 20% of doctoral students in psychology report symptoms of depression and anxiety. The implications of this can be seen in the classroom. It was suggested that mentoring relationships can help to prevent or reduce these symptoms.
Remember that while you are a student you are investing not only in a career path but in yourself as the tool in the room with patients.
Activity: Reflect on those who have helped you up until this point. What were the qualities they had in common? What characteristics do you look for in a professional mentor?
